Commercial Work: Vintage Clothing Shoot

December 8, 2009 | Filed Under commercial | 2 Comments

I was pleased to work with the lovely model Heidi for a vintage clothing shoot.

The first session she modeled a 1974 Bernard Freres shantung silk couture dress in the Chinoisiere style.  She also modeled a 1964 Myer Kahan mod-style dinner suit.

A Few More Images From Australia

As I get acclimated back to Finnish time, I can’t wait to go through all the images from the shoots in Australia.  Here are some more favorites as I continue to go through my cards:

Updating a Modeling Portfolio

These images are of the lovely model Elyon.   She braved the late Finnish Summer sun (11:00 pm) for wonderful shots at sunset.  I tried to give her a variety of styles to show her versatility.  All clothing in these shoots are antique (1890s) or vintage (1960s), from the shoes to the bustle cage under the bustle dresses.

Commerial Shoot: Model Ainsley Alexandra

March 20, 2009 | Filed Under commercial | 6 Comments

She was a pleasure to work with – exuberant and able to really bring emotion and zeal to her images.  Here are a few of my favorites from this model.

The objective of Ainsley’s shoot was to create very commercial images (as opposed to the more editorial high fashion look).  Editorial shots tend to be about abstracts and funky angles while commercial images are often friendly, inviting, and meant to draw a viewer into the emotion displayed.  My objective as the photographer that day was to catch the model’s personal magic and use it to complement the location – the fall of snow, out of focus car lights, shiny wet surfaces, warm yellow glows, and baroque architecture.  For me, the location is always one of the subjects – either recognizable or completely out of focus and turned into colorful balls of bright light.  And after only a few frames of shooting Ainsley, I knew I would focus on her flowing movements and dance-inspired grace.

Two images from the session!  David was a great model – he brought a lot to the shoot and was full of interesting ideas for stunning shots.  It’s a pleasure to shoot when the photographer and model work collaboratively.
