Still raining constantly - but nothing that can’t be solved by a good umbrella.

It’s rained nearly constantly for three weeks now - but even on the rainiest days, there are 10-15 minutes when the sky momentarily stops pouring and we can run out and do quick pictures and feed the ducks. For this little session, we shot in 10 minute bursts and then ran madly back to the safety of the car when the rain returned!

This was an opportunity to break out my reflectors and 24mm lens and be creative. I had the sun for the first half of the shoot but it disappeared behind clouds all too soon. And someone was in a patriotic mood this afternoon.

There is a good reason the Scandinavian countries are known for their natural beauty.

It was a bit wet from all the rain in the night - but what a beautiful and bright morning. Images from when photographers meet up.

I’m upgrading my portfolio again and would love to add some diversity to the existing images. As a result, I am pleased to offer a free session and free digital proofs (a 1500e value) for the following types of sessions:
- Young couple to do romantic shoots at a sunset in Lauttasaari. I need a guy who isn’t stiff and embarrassed by photography.
- Recent Brides willing to take their used wedding dresses and get them dirty in snow, water, grass, etc. If you are an outgoing person who can enjoy the humor and fun of a ‘trash the dress’ type of shoot, I’d love to photograph you.
- Teenagers aged 16-20 for a shoot in downtown Helsinki urban locations. Must dress fun and funky and bring your unique personality to the shoot!
- Newborns - under 2 weeks old. I’ll come to your home with all the equipment - I just need a nice sleepy baby.
- Goth - any age. I am interested in shooting goth styled (male or female) in locations around Eastern Helsinki/Arabianranta. If you bring the clothes and make up, I’ll give you artistically photographed images in return.
- Very Small sized Female models for antique and vintage clothing. I have many 100+ year old clothing items dating as far back as 1850s that are waiting to be modeled. However, sizes were very small and women petite in those eras so I need an extremely thin and moderately height woman to model them. As an example, the waist sizes of the 1880s bustle dresses are no larger than 23″/60 cm wide.
- Rock Band promo shots. Have a local rock band and need some publicity images?
If you are interested in any of the above, please email andrea@ajatonjoki.com
These specials are on a first come, first shot basis - as soon as I have enough shots for the portfolio. Valid through the months of October and November, 2008. All models required to sign model releases for my portfolio use. If you are under 18, I require a parent’s permission to photograph you.
Have fun trashing that wedding dress!

We were on vacation in the Mikkeli area most of the week and dropped in to Heinola area for lunch on the trip up. It’s one of my favorite cities - rural but with so much history. I especially love the ancient oak lined esplanade along the central lake area.
First, the black and whites. Most were taken in the rain - long before the sun peeked out later in the day.

The train trestle - a site every Heinola resident knows well.

And later, the sun finally came out for us. These are at an area where a river turns into fast rapids.

And, of course, all that glorious fall color

This was under a train trestle - the new route linking Lahti to Helsinki. There was the most exquisite light down there.

And now, back to proofing last week’s sessions!
This is a late evening shoot at Hvittrask. The sun was peeping out from behind the clouds at odd moments - but the lighting was bright enough for wonderful shots.

They were really troopers - it was dark, cold and windy - not to mention it rained on us. But when you have a great family - nothing worries them and they get into the portrait spirit. My thanks to the J family! And congratulations on 20 years of marriage - you’re an inspiration to all of us.
Here are the first ones I’ve proofed:
